The future is electric

Electric cars pave the way for a sustainable future
In 2011, Better Place will launch in Denmark and Israel, making them the first contries in the world to have full electric infrastructures for cars. Better Place is the world’s leading electric vehicle (EV) services provider, leading the transition to sustainable transportation and a future where electric cars run on energy harvested from windmills.

This weekend you can meet the people behind Better Place, see a Tesla electric sports car and hear more about the future of electric car transportation at the largest car show in Denmark, "Biler i Bella". e-Types created the exhibition design for the Better Place presentation at Biler i Bella.

C - new cool convenience

New convenience store concept unveiled by Coop and e-Types
Coop and e-Types have been working on a new convenience store concept targeted at contemporary consumers and families. On the 8th of April 2010, Coop opened the first store in the new chain - simply dubbed "C" - on Falkonér Alle in Fredriksberg, Copenhagen. By selecting the best products from all of Coop´s stores, Coop has been able to create an entirely new convenience concept offering low-price goods as well as ecological specialities and healthy take-away.

e-Types developed the name, logo and identity for C - reinterpreting Coop´s original values into a heart. The logo signals the care for peoples health and economy as well as the concern for the world around us that lie at the very core of Coop. Values that we believe will never go out of style.

Balancing growth and responsibility

Design and strategy for Agriculture & Food
Danish pork is in high demand in Japan, ecological chickens born and raised in Denmark are considered a luxury amongst the affluent in China and on the European market Danish food products represent the highest standard in modern farming and production. In fact, it is safe to say that Danish agriculture and food products have become synonymous with animal welfare, safety and quality. Furthermore, with over 150.000 people within the sector - from farmers to factory workers - agriculture and food is one of Denmark's biggest industries and exports.

In 2009, the Danish Agriculture and Food Council (Agriculture & Food in short) was born as a result of a merger between the biggest Danish food- and agriculture organizations. A merger orchestrated to create a common platform from which the industry could encourage further responsibility through out the entire food chain - from farm to fork.

e-Types designed the new logo and design programme for Agriculture and Food and developed the brand strategy for the organizations national and international initiatives."Agriculture and Food are an ambitious organization with ambitious goals. Working with their brand strategy, we knew we had to create a platform that could encompass a very diverse set of stakeholders. Not only did we need to create coherence among many internal groups each coming from their own organizational and professional culture, but we also had to communicate to a very complex set of external target groups - national as well as international." comments Thomas Sehested, Senior Brand Strategist at e-Types.

First Danes to compete at MoMA P.S.1 New York

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and e-Types create ”Cloud”; a giant inflatable installation for MoMA /P.S.1 New York
Every summer the Museum of Modern Art and P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center jointly present The Young Architects Program (YAP) -  an annual series of competitions giving emerging architects the opportunity to conceive and build projects for P.S.1’s facility in Long Island City, Queens. BIG and e-Types are the first Danish team ever to be invited.

The objective of the competition is to provide visitors with an outdoor recreational area for the summer—a much-needed refuge in the dense urban tropics of NYC—making best use of P.S.1´s pre-existing space and available materials.

The solution proposed by BIG and e-Types consists of a giant installation called ”Cloud” – an impressive inflatable landscape designed to be both cost-efficient and in tune with the “Re-cycle / Re-use” theme of this years competition by recycling the installation into unique numbered bags once its torn down.

We are pleased to announce that Cloud made it as a runner-up as an entry that according to the jury ”swept them off their feet”.However, finally the jury chose a proposal from the New York based SO-IL (Solid Objectives Idenburg Liu) as the winner 2010.

e-Types does Estonia

Rasmus Ibfelt serves as Head of The Jury at the ADC Estonia Design Awards, Art Directors Club Estonia.
" It was a great honor and truly exciting to get to see the work of some of the talent coming out of Estonia. They have an amazing international outlook, which really comes through in the work produced while still being innovative and developing a strong style of their own. I had a great time and met some real talent." comments Rasmus Ibfelt.

Rasmus also had the chance to say a few words about e-Types and the way we work, focusing on the contamination between cultural clients and big business - "We really feel that the two have a lot to offer each other and have experienced time and time again how the two worlds can draw inspiration from their respective mental modes and workflows" says Rasmus Ibfelt.

Psalm numbering for Grøndalskirken
As part of an ongoing project with Grøndalskirken, e-Types has redesigned the psalm numbering used to communicate which psalms will be sung at the service.

Discarding the old centered grid, the e-Types team aligned everything to the left, making it easier to hang the numbers and giving the system a more contemporary feel.

The numbers themselves where also redrawn to coincide with the new aesthetic of the church recently renovated by Erik Brandt Dam Architects. Furthermore, the numbers have been fitted with an orange background, giving them a corona effect, making them stand out clearly from the wall.
