Who the fuck is Stella?
The Danish fashion brand Stella Nova wanted to further their potential and take the brand to the next level. The all-important element of the brand is the muse, Stella, who lends her name to the brand and inspires Trine Skoller, the founder, co-owner and creative director behind the brand.
Stella Nova wanted to 'give birth' to Stella - to express the characteristics of the character Stella and her relation to the brand, in order to make her the inspiration for the entire company. Hence the task was to derive a brand idea that could give a strong sense of direction for everybody in the company and permeate the everyday life of the brand - the collections as well as the communication.
Through a series of workshops e-Types uncovered the nature of Stella and the brand, formulated the brand idea and developed the brand guide including the visual concept and visual identity.
"The major challenge in the process was obtaining a balance - both in terms of finding and sensing who she is today and where she (and the brand) is going in the future, while describing long tem guidelines without limiting the development of the brand." - says Allen Kruse, senior brand strategist at e-Types.
The visual concept consists of a strict and simple frame setting the stage for skewed and versatile elements to continuously surprise and trigger your imagination.
Stella often communicates her way of living by letters, so the use of letters and everything related to old-school mail was an obvious choice for the fundamental elements in the visual identity. Stella is the sender of all communication, and hereby her inspiration reaches all the way through, even to the retailers and the consumers themselves.
