For the first time the world famous designer and thinker John Maeda of the MIT Media Lab in Cambridge Massachusetts, will present projects, ideas and thoughts for a Danish audience.
The event is a unique opportunity to get an insight into Maeda’s collaboration with major, innovative multinational corporations and his exploration of the frontier of concepts for the digital and the print media. Also this will be an unprecedented chance to enter into a debate with Maeda on his work and ideas.
John Maeda must be acknowledged as one of the most important reasons why design books are no longer read by a small group of designers only, but also by sociologists, political scientists, economists and business people. Maeda is barrier breaking in his efforts to converge art, design and digital strategies. For such firms as Shiseido, Absolut Vodka, Seibu Department Stores, Sony and New York Times Maeda has proven that commercial sense and artistic equilibrism are not opponents.
John Maeda has been named by Esquire Magazine as one of the 21 most important geniuses of the 21st century. He is Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences and Director of the Aesthetics and Computation Group at Media Lab, MIT. During the past 4 years he has been awarded on average 3 international design prizes per year as well as having published the modern design classics ‘Design by Numbers’ and ‘Maeda@Media’.
As Learning Lab Denmark is a sponsor to the MIT Media Lab, John Maeda is in Denmark to speak at Learning Lab Denmark’s ‘Agora of Learning 2002 – Creating New Concepts for Learning’ on December 5th 2002. On the evening of the 5th, Learning Lab Denmark and e-Types are proud to jointly present John Maeda to a select group of business and public sector leaders.
