The House and the Heritage
The House of Built Heritage in Copenhagen resides in a historic building from 1859, located in Nyboder, a row house district of former Naval barracks in Copenhagen - a well-known 17th century
landmark of the city. The building completed in 1859 is today home for a number of consultancies most of whom focuses on buildings and heritage. e-Types has designed the signage system and provided
consultancy to the interior design of The House of Built Heritage.
Focus on built heritage can provide us with valuable knowledge on how to reuse, revitalize, and benefit from historic buildings and construction methods of the past. By using elements that are
already present in the building, such as dark wood and the colours found in this richly ornamented house, the signage blends in perfectly - as had it always been there.
All signage can be removed without harming the building in any way - this was a prerequisite set by the authorities who closely guard the heritage of this particular house. The signs bring quality to the experience when you move around the house. This way you do not feel like being in a dilapidated museum, but rather in a modern and vibrant building housing highly competent consultants - while the signs still assist you in finding your way around the fascinating building.
